As an artist, my love for photographic printmaking stems from the pictures I capture in nature. In my sustained investigation, I focused on nature elements. My guiding questions consisted of, how can we appreciate nature in our daily lives? Or why is it important to appreciate nature at all? These questions helped direct me to emphasizing patterns in nature. Furthermore, with the process of linoleum, I am capable of getting each small detail of an image that reflects patterns in nature. After printing it, as a viewer, I see the happiness that each of the prints upholds. It uncovers the enjoyment of nature. Either consisting of a figure or simply nature itself. My work goes beyond what one naturally sees due to me carving imaginary lines. My inspiration stems from the mark making of an earlier piece of mine titled, “Looking Beyond.” This piece reflects a little boy looking down into the water on a boardwalk. The features in this piece continued to be seen in my new works following this one. I continued to explore the details in water, movement in clothing, the sky mark making, and many other elements. All of these factors came together to continue to create my curiosity in appreciating nature.
